Leucippus

Leucippus (c.400 B.C.), Greek philosopher who developed the theory of atomism (from Greek atamos, “uncuttable”). He was the first to state that matter consists of small, constantly moving particles, or atoms. Although little is known about Leucippus's life, The Great World System and On The Mind are believed to have been written by him.
