Leakey



Leakey, family name of English archeologists and anthropologists. Louis Seymour Bazett Leakey (1903–72) is best known for his findings of hominoid fossils and artifacts, especially in the region of Olduvai Gorge, Tanzania, and for his (sometimes controversial) views on their significance. His wife, Mary Leakey (1913–96), collaborated with him. Their son Richard Leakey (1944– ) continues their work.
