Laramie



Laramie (pop. 24,410), city in southeast Wyoming, county seat of Albany County, and the third largest city in the state. Named after Jacques La Ramie, a French-Canadian trapper, it was settled in 1868 and grew with the onset of railroad, mining, and cattle-producing industries. Laramie is the home of the University of Wyoming.
