Lake Superior



Lake Superior, largest freshwater lake in the world, largest of the 5 Great Lakes, located along the United States-Canadian border, with Michigan and Wisconsin on the south, Minnesota on the west, and Ontario on the north. It is 350 mi (563 km) long, 160 mi (257 km) wide, and up to 1,333 ft (406 m) deep. An important waterway for shipping, it connects to the Atlantic Ocean through the St. Lawrence Seaway, and to the Gulf of Mexico through the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River.
