Lake Albert



Lake Albert, or Lake Mobutu Sese Sekolake, lake in east central Africa between Zaire and Uganda, linked to Lake Edward to the south by the Semliki River. It was named (1864) for England's Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria. The lake is approximately 100 mi (160 km) in length and 20 mi (32 km) in width, covering about 2,059 sq mi (5,333 sq km). It is a water source for the Nile River.
