Pär Fabian Lagerkvist



Lagerkvist, Pär Fabian (1891–1974), Swedish poet, novelist, and dramatist, winner of the 1951 Nobel Prize for literature. He was much disturbed by World War I and later also protested against fascism. His works, which include the novels The Hangman (1933) and Barabbas (1950), and the play Man Without a Soul (1936), explore the problem of good and evil in humanity.
