Labyrinth

Labyrinth, complex of buildings or hedges with many passages and dead ends, designed to baffle strangers trying to find the way in or out; a maze. The most famous labyrinth of antiquity, according to Greek legend, was built in Crete by Daedalus to house the Minotaur. Other famous labyrinths were in Lemnia and in Italy. The maze at Hampton Court Palace, England, is an example of a garden labyrinth.
