Laburnum



Laburnum, genus of small trees belonging to the pea family (Fabaceae or Leguminosae), characterized by glossy green leaves, yellow blossoms, and fine-grained, hard wood. A poison called cytisine is present in their roots, seeds, and other parts. The common laburnum (L. anagyroides) is native to Asia and is also called golden chain, bean tree, and bean trefoil.
