Labrador retriever

Labrador retriever, breed of sporting dog originating in Newfoundland, Canada and further developed in England. A strongly built dog standing 21–24 in (93–100 cm) and weighing 60–75 lb (27–34 km), the Labrador has a stable temperament, a keen sense of smell, and an innate love of water. Distinctive features are its short, thick, water-resistant coat (usually black, but sometimes yellow or dark red-brown) and its thick-based “otter tail.” The Labrador is used in hunting to retrieve waterfowl and other small game.
