Otto Klemperer



Klemperer, Otto (1885–1973), German conductor. As director of the Kroll Opera House, Berlin (1927–33) he introduced many modern works and new interpretations of classics. After a period of crippling illness he revived his career in 1947, notably as an interpreter of Beethoven and Mahler.
