Juvenal (Decimus Junius Juvenalis; A.D. 60?–140?), Roman poet. His 16 satires are scathing attacks on the corruption of social and political life in Rome. Many of his epigrammatic sayings (“A sound mind in a sound body”) have passed into everyday use.
