Judo



Judo, form of unarmed combat, a Japanese sport developed by Jigoro Kano in 1882 using the principles of jujitsu. It combines the use of balance, timing, and force to use one's opponent's own strength against him. Colored belts, ranging from white for beginners to black for experts, denote proficiency grades.
