Jojoba



Jojoba (Simmondsia californica or S. chinensis), desert plant of northern Mexico and the U.S. Southwest. Jojoba beans yield a high-quality oil similar to sperm whale oil, which has been banned in the United States since 1971. Processed as a substitute for whale oil, jojoba is used in shampoos, cosmetics, and industrial chemicals.
