Jeep

Jeep, 4-wheel-drive vehicle used for navigating rough terrain. Popular with the army, jeeps came into widespread use during World War II. The name evolved from the initials G.P., standing for “general purpose” vehicle. They became the prototypes for civilian vehicles of the same name, which is now a registered trademark of the Chrysler Corporation.
