Helen Hunt Jackson
Jackson, Helen Hunt (1831–85), U.S. author who publicized the mistreatment of Native Americans. A Century of Dishonor (1881) condemned governmental malpractice; the novel Ramona (1884) described the plight of Native Americans in California's missions.
