Irish setter



Irish setter, sporting dog and popular pet. Bred originally in Ireland. The Irish setter has a coat of either solid red or red with white markings. In the U.S. and Canada the red coat is preferred for professional showing. Irish setters are between 25 and 27 in (64 and 69 cm) high at the shoulder, and usually weigh 60 to 70 lb (27 to 32 kg). The Irish setter was developed in the 18th century as a hunting dog.
