Indian paintbrush



Indian paintbrush, any of about 200 species (genus Castilleja) of wild-flower in the figwort or snapdragon family of flowering plants. Also called painted cup, the Indian paintbrush gives forth tiny flowers that are mostly green, while its leaves are brightly colored—commonly red, pink, yellow, or lavender. A species (C. linariaefolia) of Indian paintbrush is the state flower of Wyoming.
