Hyrax



Hyrax, or cony, rabbit-sized mammal of Africa and South Asia, of the order Hyracoidea, closely related to the elephant. The hyrax resembles the guinea pig, with short legs, ears, and tail. Some species are tree-dwelling and others, called dassies, live among rocks. They feed on plants and fruits.
