Victoriano Huerta



Huerta, Victoriano (1854–1916), Mexican general and dictator (1913–14). After first supporting President Porifiro Diaz and then Francisco Madero, he rebelled, proclaiming himself president in February 1913, and had Madero and his vice-president murdered. Revolution at home and U.S. hostility combined to force him into exile.
