Housatonic River



Housatonic River, river rising in the Berkshire Hills of western Massachusetts. An important source of hydroelectric power in the New England area, the Housatonic River is about 148 mi (238 km) long. It flows southward from Pittsfield, Mass., through Connecticut, and enters Long Island Sound just outside of Bridgeport.
