Hot springs

Hot springs, or thermal springs, natural discharges of heated water from within the earth. Most hot springs originate when water passes close to or through hot, igneous rock. They can form as streams, calm pools, geysers, fumaroles, or mudpots. Modern energy concerns have aroused interest in the possible uses of geothermal energy to generate electrical power.
