Horse Racing

Horse Racing, sport involving trials of speed between horses, watched by millions of people in many countries. Its interest as a spectator sport is largely based on the practice of on-and off-track betting. The oldest stake race is the English St. Leger, first run in 1776. In the United States, the most famous race is the Kentucky Derby, first run in 1875. Besides flat racing, there are steeplechasing and harness racing.
