Horn

Horn, bony extension, usually elongated and pointed, growing from the heads of some mammals, including cattle, sheep, and goats. The antlers of deer are not true horns. Both males and females may grow horns, which consist of a central core of bone-like material encased by a layer of the skin protein keratin. Animals use their horns for protection, either by fighting with them or by displaying them in a threatening manner.
