Hollyhock

Hollyhock (Althaea rosea), one of the tallest garden flowers. Its flowers grow on short stems along the tall, upright main stalk and open in succession from the bottom of the stem upwards. Cultivated from earliest times because it was thought to have healing properties, it has spread from its native China to the United States via Europe.
