Hippies

Hippies, anti-establishment subculture in the U.S. in the 1960s, principally people under 25 who rejected conservative values and traditional authority. Opposed to the Vietnam War and known for loose sexual conventions, use of drugs, and long hair, hippies gravitated to the East Village in New York City and the Haight-Ashbury district in San Francisco.
