Hermann Hesse



Hesse, Hermann (1877–1962), German-born Swiss poet and novelist. The solitude, especially of artists, is a recurrent theme in his work. His novels include Demian (1919), Siddhartha (1922), Steppenwolf (1927), and The Glass Bead Game (1943). In 1946 he won the Nobel Prize in Literature.
