Head Start



Head Start, U.S. government program established in 1964 by the Economic Opportunity Act to prepare disadvantaged children for school and to involve parents and local communities in the effort. The Head Start program was so successful that Follow-up programs for children in kindergarten were added in 1967. It has been one of the most widely hailed government programs ever.
