John Hanson



Hanson, John (1721–83), U.S. political leader, first president of the Congress of Confederation, under the Articles of Confederation (1781). He served in the Maryland Assembly (1757–1779) and was a leader in both civil and military resistance to the British during the Revolutionary War.
