Howard Hanson



Hanson, Howard (1896–1981), U.S. conductor, teacher, and composer in the Romantic tradition. He won a Prix de Rome (1921) and was director of the Eastman School of Music, Rochester, N.Y. (1924–64). Hanson's Fourth Symphony won a Pulitzer Prize in 1944.
