Haakon VII



Haakon VII (1872–1957), king of Norway from 1905. A Danish prince, he was elected constitutional monarch when Norway became independent of Sweden. During the German occupation of Norway (1940–45), he led a government-in-exile in London. He was succeeded by his son, Olaf V.
