Luther Halsey Gulick



Gulick, Luther Halsey (1865–1918), U.S. physical education teacher and physician who spent much of his life promoting physical fitness. Gulick lectured and wrote books on good hygiene and the importance of physical activity. From 1886 to 1903 he was director of the physical training course at the Young Men's Christian Association Training School in Springfield, Mass. Gulick and his wife, Charlotte Vetter Gulick, also founded the Camp Fire Girls (now Camp Fire) in 1910.
