François Pierre Guillaume Guizot



Guizot, François Pierre Guillaume (1787–1874), French statesman and historian. Under Louis Philippe he held various offices, notably the education and foreign ministries. He became premier in 1847 but resigned when the monarchy was overthrown in 1848. Thereafter he wrote history, most notably a history of the 17th-century English revolution.
