Great Smoky Mountains

Great Smoky Mountains, range of the Appalachian Mountains forming the border between North Carolina and Tennessee. The “Great Smokies” are almost entirely within the 800 sq mi (2,080 sq km) Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The mountain valleys are often filled with a smoky-blue haze, from which the name of the range derives.
