Grassland



Grassland, land whose predominant vegetation consists of grasses and forage plants; excellent for cultivation. Savanna, or tropical grassland found in Africa and South America, has coarse grasses, occasional clumps of trees, and some shrubs; prairie has tall, deep-rooted grasses and is found in Middle and North America, Argentina, the Ukraine, South Africa, and Australia; steppes have short grasses and are found mainly in Central Asia.
