Gazelle



Gazelle, slender, graceful antelope (genus Gazella) of Asia and Africa. Males are horned; females may have short spikes. They are usually 2–3 ft (60 to 90 cm) high at the shoulder, swift, and light-footed. They inhabit dry open country. Thompson's and Grant's gazelles live in Africa; the goitered gazelle, so called from a swelling in the throat, in Asian deserts.
