Furies



Furies, in Roman mythology, goddesses of vengeance. Known as Erinyes in Greek mythology, they were often depicted as 3 old women with snakes in their hair. In his tragedy The Eumenides, Aeschylus tells of how they punished Orestes for killing his mother by driving him insane.
