Furfural



Furfural (C5H4O2), organic chemical belonging to the aldehyde family, used commonly in industry. A colorless liquid with irritating fumes, it is used in the manufacture of synthetics such as plastics, rubber, and nylon; as an insecticide and germicide; and in the refining of petroleum.
