Christopher Fry



Fry, Christopher (1907– ), English verse dramatist and film writer. His plays, often in ancient settings, deal with contemporary themes. His best-known play, The Lady's Not for Burning (1949), is a dry comedy centering on witchcraft hysteria. His screenplays include Ben Hur (1959, Academy Award) and The Bible (1966). Other works include Can You Find Me. A Family History (1978; autobiography), and One Thing More, or Caedman Construed (1986).
