Saint John Fisher



Fisher, Saint John (1469–1535), English cardinal. As bishop of Rochester (1504–34), he refused to recognize the divorce of Henry VIII from Catharine of Aragon, was imprisoned in the Tower, and later beheaded. Canonized in 1935, his feast day is June 22.
