Ludwig Andreas Feuerbach

Feuerbach, Ludwig Andreas (1804–72), German philosopher. A student of G.W.F. Hegel's, he eventually rejected idealism for a naturalistic materialism (which greatly influenced Karl Marx's development of dialectical materialism). Feuerbach attacked orthodox religion, analyzing the Christian concept of God as an illusory outward projection of human inward nature.
