Ferraro, Geraldine Anne (1935– ), U.S. politician. She served 3 terms (1979–84) as Democratic congressional representative of New York's 9th district in Queens. In 1984 she became the first woman nominated for the vice presidency by a major U.S. political party (as Walter Mondale's running mate).
