Evangeline



Evangeline (1847), long narrative poem by U.S. poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The poem tells of the ill-fated love affair of 2 French citizens expelled by the British from their home in Acadia (now eastern Canada) during the French and Indian Wars. The form of the poem is modeled on such classical epics as Homer's Odyssey.
