Esdraelon

Esdraelon, or plain of Jezreel or of Megiddo, plain in northern Israel, about 200 sq mi (520 sq km), stretching along the coast near Mt. Carmel and the Jordan River valley. This plain, referred to in the Book of Revelation as Armegeddon, was often the site of battle. Though Esdraelon was formerly a low ground filled with water, sponge, and fungus, it has since been drained, and has grown to become one of Israel's most populous and fruitful lands.
