Ε pluribus unum



Ε pluribus unum (“out of many, one”), Latin motto referring to the unification of the original 13 American colonies. Chosen for the Continental Congress by John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson, it is now inscribed on the Great Seal of the United States and on many U.S. coins.
