Endymion

Endymion, in Greek mythology, youthful lover of the goddess Selene. Various myths explain the eternal sleep and youth of the immortal Endymion. In one, Selene herself casts the spell; in another, Zeus offers eternal sleep and youth as an alternative to death. A poem named after Endymion was written by the English poet John Keats (1818).
