Daniel Decatur Emmet

Emmet, Daniel Decatur (1815–1904), U.S. songwriter and minstrel show entertainer. His song “Dixie” (1859), originally written as a conclusion to a minstrel show, became the anthem of the Confederate Army during the Civil War.
