Element (105)



Element 105, chemical element; for physical constants see Periodic Table. In 1967, Georgii N. Flerov and his associates at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research at Dubna (USSR) reported producing element 105 with mass numbers 260 and 261 by bombarding americium-243 with neon-22. In Oct. 1971, element 105 with mass number 261 was reported to have been synthesized by Albert Ghiorso and his co-workers by bombarding californium-250 with nitrogen-15, and by bombarding berkelium-249 with oxygen-16. Element 105 with mass number 262 was produced by bombarding berkelium-249 with oxygen-18.
