Sergei Mikhailovich Eisenstein



Eisenstein, Sergei Mikhailovich (1898–1948), Soviet film director. A major influence on the development of the cinema, he extended editing techniques, especially the use of montage. His films, notably The Battleship Potemkin (1925), Ten Days That Shook the World (1927), Alexander Nevsky (1938), and Ivan the Terrible (1944–46), are undisputed classics.
