Echo



Echo, in Greek mythology, mountain nymph who helped Zeus carry on his affairs by distracting Hera with her endless chatter. She was punished by being able to speak only when spoken to. Later she fell in love with Narcissus, and when her love was not returned, she faded away to a mere voice.
