Placido Domingo



Domingo, Placido (1941– ), Spanish operatic tenor. In 1961 he made his Mexican debut as Alfredo in La Traviata and his U.S. debut with the Dallas Civic Opera. He sang in Israel (1963–65) and with the N.Y. City Opera (1965–67) before joining the Metropolitan Opera (1968). He sings over 60 roles and is one of the most popular tenors of this day.
